Before you come for your appointment:

It’s very important that you eat and are hydrated (water please) If you have a longer session planned with one of our artists feel free to bring snacks and water! You are allowed one person to sit with you during your session; Coming alone? Feel free to bring headphones or something to read while you’re getting tattooed. You don’t have to, we’re happy to keep you distracted and chat with you while you’re getting tattooed.

Why only one person during your session? You know what they say, three’s a crowd! and that’s true, space is limited in each artist space and we don’t want too much commotion during your session. Helps the artist concentrate to give you the best work possible, and helps keep you in the tattoo zone as well.

Before and Aftercare

Colorado is a very dry climate, we always recommend lotion and sunscreen when taking care of your skin and preparing it for tattooing. Hydration is also key in your best skin! After every tattoo session no matter how big or how small, we always provide verbal and written aftercare.

We go through each of the steps on the aftercare sheet, feel free to ask whatever is on your mind, whether you’re new to tattoos or a pro. Each artist does aftercare differently, this is what our aftercare is like at Black Kraken and our recommendations for taking care of your new ink.

Some need to knows when it comes to your new tattoo:

It’s going to itch (because the hair is growing back through it), that is natural during healing and it is going to flake. It’s very important that you don’t pick at your tattoo. It could cause trauma during healing and cause gaps in your tattoo that might need to be touched up after healing.

Healing takes about a week and a half to two weeks, sometimes up to three weeks depending on how well you heal and how well you take care of your tattoo. If a touch up is needed after it heals, we offer one free touch up with every tattoo we do! It’s okay to ask about what your healing looks like, just shoot us a message.

Some swelling and redness might occur after getting tattooed, that is natural as well. When you need to be concerned is if your tattoo starts seeping yellow or green pus. Use a hot compress, Neosporin, seek medical care and please alert your artist.

Pricing and Cost

Each tattoo design is priced per piece by the artist, whenever you book your artist whether you pick a pre-drawn design or you have one created, price will be discussed. We don’t charge hourly and the shop minimum is $100.

What does that mean? We will not tattoo you for less than $100 and that is non-negotiable.

If you want to book an all day session with our artist Mick, that starts at $1,500 An all day session will go till you can’t be tattooed anymore.

Deposit is at the discretion of each artist and will be discussed at the time of booking. This isn’t always required: IF you have no called/no showed a previous appointment and want to book again, a deposit will be required. If you cancelled last minute (depending on the circumstance, we understand emergencies happen) a deposit will be required if you want to book that artist again.

Why will a deposit be required if these circumstances happen?: The artist has a schedule to fill and booked a specific slot for you. They took time to create a design for you. Tattoo deposits work as a way of you financially committing to your tattoo appointment. Without this monetary protection, artists and parlors could lose a significant amount of money due to clients pulling out. The deposit covers the opportunity cost of losing business elsewhere. THESE ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
